How DualEntry uses Finch to accelerate onboarding, save $1.1M in engineering costs, and unlock revenue faster with automation powered by payroll integrations.
DualEntry is a modern, AI-native ERP system built for fast-growing, mid-market companies. After scaling a prior business to $100M+ in revenue, co-founders Santiago Nestares and Benedit Dohmen saw firsthand how legacy ERP platforms slowed operations through disconnected systems and manual work. They set out to build a better alternative — one that moves at the pace of modern business and frees finance teams to focus on forward-looking analysis, not data entry.
To create a fully automated experience, DualEntry relies on integrations with a variety of financial tools, from bank accounts to payroll systems. Since partnering with Finch, DualEntry has achieved $310K in earlier revenue recognition through faster onboarding and saved $1.1M in annual engineering costs.
ERPs are supposed to act as a central nervous system for company finances, but many lack visibility into other core systems of record. When key financial data like payroll, benefits, and expenses can’t flow automatically into the ledger, accounting teams are forced to rely on manual data entry and reconciliation.
This fragmented data flow doesn’t just waste time — it forces finance teams to cut corners. Instead of tracking granular payroll data across departments, locations, and line items, they often default to importing payroll as a single line within the ledger.
“Finance teams spend hours categorizing every coffee purchase, but then payroll — the company’s biggest expense — gets lumped into one flat line. That’s not a good experience for your team, your board, or your investors,” Santiago said.
DualEntry was architected from day one with two things in mind: automation and speed. The team envisioned a fully integrated experience that would deliver real-time data connectivity and then automate routine tasks using AI.
“Before we could even think about applying AI, we had to solve the data piece. It’s like the foundation for a building,” Santiago said. “Success meant making sure 99% of transactions could be posted automatically through integrations, with full granularity and zero manual work.”

That emphasis on real-time, reliable integrations shaped everything about DualEntry’s approach, from how the product was built to which partners they selected.
“We’re standing on the shoulders of the ecosystem, but delivering a better ERP system.”
After banks, payroll was DualEntry’s top integration priority. It’s every company’s largest expense, and one of the most commonly mishandled data sources in legacy ERP systems.
DualEntry evaluated multiple integration partners and ultimately chose Finch for its combination of wide payroll coverage and unmatched granularity.
“We found a lot of vendors who said they covered payroll, but they couldn’t present the data with enough granularity to differentiate by department or individual benefits. Finch could, and in a unified way,” Santiago said. “That allows us to differentiate as a software for our own customers.”

Finch’s unified API delivers each customer’s pay data in a single, standardized format, regardless of the payroll system they use. DualEntry has saved $1.1M in annual engineering costs just by not having to build an internal tool to standardize all of the data.
The development team also found Finch’s onboarding experience refreshingly simple.
“I spent 30 minutes in the docs and knew exactly what data we’d get from each endpoint. The documentation was written for engineers, and the implementation took less than a week,” said Ignacio Brasca, Head of Integrations.
Finch’s streamlined process lets DualEntry onboard new users faster, leading to $310K in earlier revenue recognition.
Finch’s long-tail payroll support has become a competitive differentiator for DualEntry, especially when selling into complex or newly acquired business units that use less common providers.
“They say the devil’s in the details. In sales calls, it’s the second or third meeting when someone says, ‘Oh, by the way, we also have a subsidiary that uses this niche payroll provider. Can you integrate with them?’ That’s where we win, because we can say yes,” Santiago explained.
For some customers, payroll integration is a deal-breaker. For others, it’s a pleasant surprise that takes the user experience from good to great.
“Some customers don’t even bring it up, because they assume their provider isn’t supported. We bring it up during implementation, and they’re thrilled. That’s when it’s a delightful experience,” Santiago added.
By partnering with Finch, DualEntry was able to accelerate development, deliver a better user experience, and unlock the full potential of AI-powered automation. Payroll data is no longer a bottleneck — it’s a core input for smarter, faster financial reporting.
“All the data from a company's financial transactions have to end up in the ledger eventually, so one of the most important things for a good ledger is to have integrations to the entire ecosystem,” Santiago said.
“That's why Finch is such a powerful tool for ERPs and other financial tools — they help us cover the entire long tail of payroll providers so we can be the best financial ledger for our customers.”
