A year ago, Gusto selected Finch as their first unified API partner. Since, we've forged new paths for HR and Benefits companies to offer integrations to Gusto through Finch.
Over a year ago, Gusto selected Finch as their first official unified API partner, kicking off a transformative collaboration. Since then, we’ve launched an integration that sets the standard for third-party employment infrastructure. Together, we’re opening new paths for developers to integrate with Gusto, and for thousands of "Gustomers" to get the most out of their HR, Benefits, and Financial tech stack.
Gusto is one of the top five payroll platforms for small businesses in the U.S., having earned their spot by delivering an exceptional user experience for small businesses. With 400,000+ employers using Gusto for HR, Payroll, and Benefits today, there is a strong demand for integrations to Gusto from many other players in the ecosystem.
In a recent survey conducted by Finch, integration capability was the #1 factor (followed by cost) influencing buying decisions for employers. But universal compatibility can be a real challenge for businesses as popular as Gusto. Previously, Gusto offered only one integration path: direct partnerships. While valuable, these slots are limited, making it challenging for smaller or emerging applications to access them. That’s especially painful in today’s landscape, where new cohorts of small business technology platforms pop up every few months.
Through a partnership with Finch, Gusto has empowered more developers to integrate with their platform, expanding connectivity across the employment ecosystem. The results speak for themselves. Already, thousands of employers have connected their Gusto accounts to other applications via Finch to automate manual tasks and streamline workflows.
Through close collaboration, the Finch + Gusto integration has become one of the most popular integrations used by Finch customers. And it’s no surprise. The integration not only provides easy, secure authentication with OAuth and daily data syncing, but also enables automated benefit contributions and deductions— a feature exclusively available through Finch outside of a direct Gusto integration. This capability is especially critical for retirement and benefits applications that require bi-directional or "360º" data flow.
Take, for example, 401GO. 401GO launched in 2019 with a mission to take on 100% of the administrative burden for their small business customers. It quickly became clear just how critical an integration with Gusto would be to their customer base.
"The data that we're getting is so important to 401(k) administration," said 401GO cofounder Jared Porter. "It’s what allows us to send out notifications, enroll employees as they become eligible, and complete end-of-year reporting so the company, without even realizing it, is the best fiduciary.” Without an integration, this would all be manual work for the user. With Finch’s pre-built integration, 401GO customers can authorize access to their payroll data in as little as 30 seconds, streamlining critical processes.
